Working in conjunction with the Alice Springs Aero Club, Flight Standards is the only flight training provider in Central Australia!
Catering for the local recreational aviation community, our Instructor in location has been a resident of Alice Springs for several years – having previously worked in the region in another career path prior to taking up aviation.
Flight Standards (Alice Springs) provides personal, friendly flight training with a focus on the RPL & PPL – however it is no problem to deliver the CPL course as needed.
Alice Springs Facilities, Staff & Aircraft
Flight Standards operates from the impressive Alice Springs Aero Club facility, located front & centre on the main apron.
The Instructor permanently on location is Beau Thornton, a Centralian local, who also serves on the committee of the Aero Club. Through Beau, Flight Standards has a close relationship with the Club – which is consistent with the friendly, laid back lifestyle enjoyed in this part of the world.
Foremost amongst the aircraft available in Alice Springs is our beautifully restored C152 Aerobat, fondly known as “Undies”. It is perhaps the best example of the type in the country & is a favourite amongst the local aerobatic fraternity. For the bigger flying tasks, we can offer a C172, C210 or Baron. A modern Elite AT-11 synthetic trainer is available for training or hire, fully CASA approved for IFR purposes.
Courses available
Alice Springs is focused on the delivery of RPL, PPL & the occasional CPL course, as well as aircraft hire to visiting pilots.
