Cessna 152 Aerobat
First delivered in 1977, more than 7,500 examples of the type were built over the next ten years – establishing this aircraft as the definitive pilot training machine. There are very few pilots who have not experienced the pleasant flight characteristics of this honest little aeroplane.
Mostly docile in all flight regimes and well suited to the novice pilot, the Aerobat also has a reputation for favourable aerobatics handling – whilst showing a bit of personality during snap roll and spinning sequences!
Flight Standards sourced an Aerobat variant and to mitigate the challenges of older aircraft, had it completely rebuilt from the wheels up in Melbourne during 2015 before moving it to the Northern Territory. Brand new wings, paint and a complete fuselage and interior refurbishment make this delightful aircraft one of the finest examples of the type in Australia today.
The Cessna 152 Aerobat sees service in training for the Recreational Pilot Licence and for the more adventurous – Aerobatics and Formation flight activity endorsements.
