The Bachelor of Aviation from Central Queensland University is a versatile degree with options to major in Flight Operations or Airport and Airline Management, preparing you for a career as a pilot, or diverse roles in airport management.
The Flight Operations major will prepare you for a career as a professional airline pilot capable of managing a multi-crew environment. In this major, you will study the academic and aeronautical knowledge requirements of the Air Transport Pilot License and Command Instrument Rating. You will build knowledge and skills relating to aerodynamics, navigation, meteorology and flight planning, as well as being introduced to the laws that are relevant to aviation, multi-crew environments and the development and maintenance of a safety management system.
The Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) includes a total of over 220 hours of flight training. including flight time and hours simulator time. Within your flight time you will have 100 hours of pilot in command time and 46 hours of instrument time. Upon successful completion of your flight training, you should meet the academic requirements to obtain your Australian Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and a Multi Engine Class Rating and Instrument Rating (ME IR).
You will be required to gain a “Class 1” medical certificate at your own expense during the first term of your studies. You will also be required to obtain a CASA Aviation Reference Number (ARN) and Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) at your own expense.
Flight training may be undertaken at any of the Flight Standards bases across Australia!
